This five-night itinerary divides your time between two completely different Georgias. Tbilisi — the capital — is a city of narrow old-town lanes, Orthodox churches, and wine bars where a bottle of natural Rkatsiteli costs less than a soft drink. Two hours north along the Georgian Military Highway, Kazbegi sits at 1,740m with Mount Kazbek (5,047m) as its backdrop. The Gergeti Trinity Church, perched on a hill above the village at 2,170m, is one of the most dramatic viewpoints in the Caucasus.
