Best Holiday Destinations from UAE in 2025 (by Month & Budget)
By Big Bird Travel Team
Where should you go this year? This practical guide matches the best destinations to each month of the year, covering weather, visa requirements and budget - so you can plan the right trip at the right time.
With Dubai and Abu Dhabi as your departure points, you are 3-4 hours from some of the world's best destinations and 7-8 hours from dozens more. The challenge is matching your travel month to the right destination - weather, crowds and prices shift significantly throughout the year.
January - March: Cool Weather Escapes
UAE winters are the best time to stay close to home or explore destinations that are warm but not extreme. February and March are ideal for Europe before the tourist season begins.
- Georgia (Tbilisi & Batumi) - surprisingly affordable, visa-free, great food and architecture
- Turkey (Istanbul & Cappadocia) - cold but atmospheric, far cheaper than summer
- Sri Lanka - peak season, beautiful beaches and culture, easy visa-free entry
- Thailand - perfect warm weather, crowds starting to thin after the peak December-January period
- Zanzibar - beach perfection, quiet, visa-free for most nationalities with UAE residence
April - May: Best Value Window
This short window before European summer prices spike is one of the best travel periods for UAE residents. School holidays in the UAE in April give families a window.
- Greece (Athens, Santorini, Mykonos) - before peak summer, comfortable temperatures
- Italy - spring light, lower prices than summer, less crowded
- Portugal (Lisbon & Algarve) - warm but not hot, excellent value in May
- Kazakhstan (Almaty) - emerging destination, visa-free for many, stunning mountain scenery
- Azerbaijan (Baku) - short flight, rich culture, no visa required for UAE residents
June - August: Beat the UAE Heat
The UAE summer is when families with school-age children travel. Europe peaks, Maldives has rain but better rates, and some long-haul options open up.
- UK (London, Edinburgh) - school holidays align, pleasant summer weather
- Switzerland - hiking season, mountains are accessible, expensive but spectacular
- Maldives - "off-season" with lower prices, but still beautiful with occasional showers
- Japan - summer heat but festivals season (Obon), and fall shoulder prices approaching
- Canada (Toronto, Vancouver) - school holidays, long daylight hours, no crowds yet
September - November: Best Overall Travel Period
After school restarts and before December prices rise, September to November is arguably the best window for UAE residents to travel. Europe is recovering from peak, East Asia has beautiful weather, and prices across the board drop.
- Maldives (October-November) - warm dry season beginning, excellent visibility for diving
- Bali (July-September is peak, but September remains excellent)
- Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan) - fall colours, comfortable temperatures, incredible history
- Morocco - perfect temperatures, pre-Christmas crowds, visa-free for UAE residents
- Egypt (Cairo, Red Sea) - water temperature at its best, strong UAE tourist infrastructure
December: Festive Travel
UAE school holidays over New Year make December one of the busiest travel months. Book early - at least 3 months ahead for popular destinations.
- Maldives - peak season, expensive but magical for Christmas/New Year
- Europe (Vienna, Prague, Budapest) - Christmas markets, magical atmosphere
- Seychelles - dry season, peak prices, one of the world's best beach destinations
- Kenya / Tanzania - start of dry season, safari season begins
