The single most expensive mistake is overstay. Since February 2026 the fine is AED 50 per day with no grace period — it starts the day after expiry and no reminder is sent. The second is buying the wrong entry type (single vs multiple) and voiding the visa on a quick trip out.

What most UAE visit-visa websites don't tell you
The basics are everywhere. These are the details that decide whether a visit goes smoothly or ends in a fine at the airport.
Overstay is AED 50 per day — and there is no grace period
Since 11 February 2026 the UAE charges a unified AED 50 per day for overstaying a visit or tourist visa, and the old 10-day grace period has been removed. Fines start the day after your visa expires, accrue automatically in the ICP/GDRFA system, and you are not sent a reminder. Always extend or exit before expiry — we track your date and remind you.
You must ENTER within the validity window, not just book
A 30- or 60-day visit visa gives you a window (usually 60 days) to enter the UAE. The stay counter only starts when you land. If you do not enter within that window, the visa lapses and the fee is not refunded. Plan your flights around the entry window — we help you time it.
The salary to sponsor depends on how you are related
A UAE resident sponsoring a first-degree relative (parents, spouse, children) generally needs a salary of at least AED 4,000/month. For second- or third-degree relatives (siblings, in-laws, friends), the threshold is higher (around AED 8,000/month) and a hotel or agency sponsor is often the cleaner route. If you do not have a sponsor, we can sponsor the visa for you.
Travel insurance is effectively mandatory

A single-entry visa is void the moment you leave the UAE — even for a day trip to Oman or a GCC hop. If you plan to leave and return (umrah, a quick Muscat or Doha trip), you need a multiple-entry visa. We ask about your plans first so you do not buy the wrong type.
Extending is often cheaper than a visa run
Most 30/60-day visit visas can be extended twice inside the UAE (typically 30 days each) without leaving the country. For many visitors this is cheaper and safer than an exit-and-re-enter "visa run", which is at the discretion of immigration.
