Umrah Packages from UAE 2026: What to Expect & How to Choose
By Big Bird Travel Team
Performing Umrah from the UAE is easier than many pilgrims expect - and significantly more affordable than Hajj. This comprehensive guide explains what a well-organised Umrah package includes, how to choose the right tier, and how to prepare for your journey.
Umrah can be performed at any time of the year - unlike Hajj, which has a fixed annual period. For UAE residents, the journey is straightforward: a 3.5-hour flight to Jeddah or Madinah, followed by time in Makkah and Madinah. A full Umrah package typically covers 7 nights (4 nights Makkah + 3 nights Madinah) with return flights.
What Does an Umrah Package Include?
A complete Umrah package from a licensed UAE travel agent should include all of the following. Be cautious of packages that exclude any of these elements - additional costs can add up quickly.
- Return flights from Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Jeddah or Madinah
- Umrah visa - processed through Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah
- Hotel accommodation in Makkah (minimum 4 nights)
- Hotel accommodation in Madinah (minimum 3 nights)
- Airport transfers and inter-city transport (Makkah-Madinah)
- Guided Madinah ziyarat tour
- 24/7 support from the travel agency
Economy vs Standard vs Premium - Which Should You Choose?
| Tier | Hotel Stars | Distance from Haram | Price Range (AED/person) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | 3-Star | 300-500m from Haram | 1,800-2,500 |
| Standard | 4-Star | 100-200m from Haram | 2,800-4,500 |
| Premium | 5-Star | Adjacent / facing Haram | 5,500-10,000+ |
The main variable between tiers is hotel proximity to Masjid al-Haram. For elderly pilgrims, those with mobility limitations, or anyone performing multiple Tawaf, paying for a closer hotel makes a significant physical difference. For healthy pilgrims who don't mind a 10-minute walk, economy packages offer excellent value.
The Umrah Visa Process
The Umrah visa is processed through the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's Nusuk platform or through authorised travel agencies like Big Bird Travel. The visa is electronic - you do not get a sticker in your passport. Processing typically takes 3-5 working days. You will need a clear passport photo and a valid passport.
Ministry requirements change
Saudi Umrah visa requirements - including health documentation, Nusuk registration, and Mahram requirements for women - are subject to change. Always confirm current requirements with Big Bird Travel before applying. Requirements as of early 2026 differ from those pre-2023.
